Boambee Bombers caretaker coach Brady Parker has taken aim at some of their younger players ahead of this Sunday’s Coastal Premier League clash with Kempsey Saints.

Parker has taken the reigns after former coach Adrian Pickup had to step away from the role due to personal commitments.

He will be the club’s third coach this season and takes over after the Bombers suffered an upset 3-0 defeat to Coffs Tigers in their last start.

But he didn’t miss, suggesting a number of their young brigade needed an attitude readjustment.

“I wouldn’t say it’s a whole team, but there’s an arrogance amongst the team and there is a couple there that are bringing the level of the boys down,” Parker said.

“A lot of the kids coming through at the moment have only seen the highs of Boambee so they think if they rock up, they’re expected to win.

“We need to get that attitude changed and get a bit of respect back for other teams and for each other. They’re not respecting each other’s abilities and if you’re not going to respect the player next to you, it’s going to show on the pitch and everyone’s playing for themselves at the moment.

“At the moment it’s an unstable base and that will bring you unstuck. That’s where the problems start.”

Parker admitted his side had become comfortable.

“I started out with the club as a junior so I’ve been through the very lows with the Bombers and then through the highs,” he said.

“We need to go back to scratch, work on the fundamentals and get the attitude right and get the football right to get everyone gelling again.

“We need to show our colours now.”

They will be challenged by the Kempsey side who have slipped to sixth, but are only four points behind Boambee.

“It’s going to be a tough one against Kempsey Saints that even though the scoreline didn’t show it, last time they were a tough side,” Parker said.

“If a few things went their way it could have been much closer but it’s going to be a tough one.”

In other matches, Port United host Northern Storm at Dixie Park, Macleay Valley host Taree, Coffs United host Sawtell and Port Saints travel to Coffs Coast Tigers.
